ISOFIX Vehicle Compatibility Guide – Wag Dock V2
ISOFIX Vehicle Compatibility Guide
Wag Dock V2 – Now with ISOFIX Security
Important: An ISOFIX-compatible vehicle does not guarantee that the Wag Dock V2 will fit every seat or seating position. Seat shape, head restraints, buckle position, anchor spacing, and boot or rear-seat dimensions all affect suitability. Final compatibility is vehicle-specific and is your responsibility to verify before use.
Step 1 – Confirm Your Vehicle Has ISOFIX Lower Anchor Points
ISOFIX lower anchors are two metal bars recessed between the seat base and seat back in the rear seating positions of compatible vehicles. They are sometimes hidden under a fabric flap or plastic cover.
To locate them:
- Check your vehicle owner's manual – ISOFIX anchor positions are usually marked with a diagram and the international ISOFIX symbol (a child-seat icon).
- Run your fingers along the join between the rear seat base and seat back. You should feel two solid metal bars approximately 28 cm apart (this is the standard ISOFIX spacing of 280 mm centre-to-centre).
- Look for a small fabric tag or embossed symbol on the seat covering, which many manufacturers use to mark anchor locations.
- If you cannot locate the anchors, consult your vehicle manufacturer or dealer.
Step 2 – Check Anchor Spacing and Accessibility
The Wag Dock V2 ISOFIX connectors are designed for the standard 280 mm centre-to-centre anchor spacing. Before purchasing, measure the distance between your lower anchor bars to confirm they fall within this range.
Also check that:
- The anchors are not obstructed by seat stitching, belt buckles, or seat hardware that would prevent the connectors from seating fully.
- The anchors are positioned so the connectors can engage at approximately a horizontal angle – steeply angled anchors may prevent a secure connection.
Step 3 – Assess the Seating Position and Surrounding Space
Even where anchors are present, the following vehicle features can make the Wag Dock V2 unsuitable for a particular seating position:
- Head restraints: Fixed or low-hanging head restraints behind the target seat may prevent the dock from sitting flush or interfere with your dog's movement.
- Buckle position: Seat belt buckles that sit proud of the seat base can prevent the dock from lying flat.
- Seat curvature: Heavily contoured or sport-style seats may create gaps under the dock base, affecting stability.
- Centre console or armrest: A raised centre console or fold-down armrest may limit usable width.
- Boot / load area installations: If you intend to use the dock in a boot space, confirm there are ISOFIX anchors in that location – not all vehicles provide them there.
Step 4 – Gather Your Vehicle Details
Before contacting Wagworthy or completing your purchase, have the following information to hand:
- Vehicle make, model, and year of manufacture
- Body style (e.g. saloon, estate, SUV, MPV, hatchback)
- Intended seating position (e.g. nearside rear, offside rear, centre rear, boot)
- Whether ISOFIX anchors are confirmed present in that position
- Measured anchor spacing (centre-to-centre, in mm)
- Any known obstructions (buckles, console, contoured seat base)
Step 5 – Measurements to Take
| Measurement | How to take it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| ISOFIX anchor spacing | Centre of left anchor bar to centre of right anchor bar | Must be approximately 280 mm for connectors to engage |
| Available width at seat base | Inner edge of left obstruction to inner edge of right obstruction | The dock base must fit within this width |
| Depth from seat back to front edge of seat base | Seat back to front lip of seat cushion | Determines whether the dock footprint fits the seat |
| Clearance above seat base | Top of seat base to underside of any head restraint or parcel shelf | Ensures your dog has adequate headroom and the dock sits securely |

Important Notices
No claim of universal fit: The Wag Dock V2 is not guaranteed to fit all ISOFIX-equipped vehicles or all seating positions within any vehicle. ISOFIX compatibility in your vehicle does not mean the dock will be suitable for every seat or position.
No crash-test certification: Wagworthy does not make any claim that the Wag Dock V2 is crash-tested or certified as a restraint system under ECE R129, ECE R44, or any other occupant-protection standard. The ISOFIX anchor system is used to secure the dock in position during normal driving. Always ensure your dog travels safely and in accordance with current UK Highway Code guidance on carrying animals in vehicles.
Vehicle-specific suitability: Public UK guidance notes that an ISOFIX-compatible seat can still be unsuitable due to seat shape, head restraints, buckle position, or anchor spacing. The same principle applies to the Wag Dock V2. You are responsible for confirming suitability for your specific vehicle before use.
Professional fitting check: If you are unsure at any stage, we recommend visiting a local car accessories retailer or fitting centre who can assess your vehicle in person.
